My cousin is working freelance as a tutor. She expects about 12K a year. Many students may pay her for skype lessons.

An alternate is for her to work as a nanny part time for her mom, which will also pay her 12K.

she wants to apply for obama care, which will give her tax credits.

From a total tax perspective, which employment is better for her to choose? she likes both jobs, but needs to pick one.

thank you.

She should be able to tutor AND be a part-time nanny.

Tax credits are of limited benefit when one doesn't have much income, because there's not much tax to wipe out.

thanks. For time reasons, she could only do one. She's ok to do either. Her mom may have to pay more taxes if she employees her as a nanny (nanny tax?)..
