I've been working hard to bring up my credit score. Had a couple of rough years, and my score took a major beating. I've been paying off collections and credit card debt, and watching it creep up.
In the past 2-3 weeks, I got the total credit card debt from 13% utilization down to 11%. That is the ONLY change to the report. Why did my Transunion score DROP by 66 points???? Paying it down and I lost ALL the upward progress that I've made in the past six months? What am I missing?
What scores are you using? If it’s a vantage score from like Credit Karma, those kind of wild drops are not uncommon. It could jump back up 100 points tomorrow. FICA scores are the ones that matter.

a few days ago i looked at creditkarma and one service had my score dropping 59 points. i just signed in and now its up 33 points. it was only due to utilization changes which is totally meaningless to me since all balances are paid on the due dates each month.
if you are on credit karma and your score drops, it should be easy for you to see why. they have a button under the score that says "see what's changed." click on that and you should be able to figure it out.
Keep on paying your bills on time, this is likely just a blip. Mine goes up or down a few points, for no apparent reason, I don't sweat it. It's a marathon.

You need to get to the point where you aren't focused on what your credit rating is today.
If you have very low debt compared to your income, strong employment history, and no late payments, you're not going to be worrying about "today it went up 10 points and yesterday it went down 10 points". Take care of the fundamentals and the secondary stuff will take care of itself.
FICA scores are the only ones you should worry about. Just keep paying bills on time and don't close any accounts and you'll be fine.
