To all the older members of City-Data: Financially speaking if you where to go back in time is there anything you would or would-not have done (ie: renting instead of buying, investing ect)?

I would have saved more than I did...I would have bought more rental houses..Even as bad as some renters can be it's still a good investment if you hold on to the property for 30 years..

I wouldn't have married my first wife.

I would have embraced the term "compounded interest" and chose a profession based on something I had a passion to do instead of potential income.

I would have gone back to the BSN program after deciding pre-med was not for me, instead of majoring in community health. The money I could have made as a nurse....we'd have a much larger savings account right now, and I wouldn't be considering going back for a post-Bacc BSN, which will cost a lot more than the original degree would have.

I'd have put more money into savings and not-too-risky investments when I was younger. I wouldn't change any of the other major financial impacting decisions I made, such as choice of majors, careers, etc. I love the crazy way my career has meandered all over the place, and I love being educated (not trained). None of the financial mistakes I've made have been too bad, I guess.
