Besides their regular name, what do you call them, and where did that name come from?
Not all the furry people that have lived with me, but the most recent:
Sylvia, cat (RIP)
Adopted in 2001 at 12 years old.
Nickname: "Silly". She had the cutest little quirks and a unique personality. Not a big fan of Sidzilla, he came along 3 months later.
She was with me until 2006. I wish my time with her wasn't so short.
Sidney, cat (RIP):
Adopted in 2001 at 7 years old.
Nickname 1: "Sidzilla". There was one picture of him that reminded my ex of Godzilla. It stuck. Nickname 2: "Sidzy"
Nickname 3: "Cow Cat". He was black and white with the markings of a cow. One Halloween I got him a cow head costume. I'll post the picture later when I find it
Marley, cat, 7 years old:
Already named Marley when I adopted him in 2008 at 2 months old. Very tiny compared to his new big brother Sidzilla. We started calling him "The Munchkin".
Nickname 1: "Munchkin" turned into "Munch". Or "Marley Munchy Munch". Or "Munch Munch Munch". Nickname 2: "Goober". I don't know where that came from but it fits.
Nickname 3: "Bubber" or "Bubs". I have no idea.
Jacob, cat, 5 years old:
Adopted at 2 months old after Munch lost his big brother Sidzilla in 2010. His original name was "Streak" for the white streak on his nose (he looked like a baby skunk). Renamed Jacob.
Nickname 1: "Birdie". Since he was a kitten he loves to sit in the window and watch the birds. He makes a little chirping noise to mimic them, and sounds just like them. I started calling him "my little birdie". He's 22 pounds now but still squeaks/chirps.
Nickname 2: JJ. Just because.
Nickname 3:"Bubber" or "Bubs".
"My Bubbers" means Marley and Jacob.
I am definitely, officially, Crazy Cat Lady. But I know I'm not the only one with extra names for my pets!
