Give him a bath with the original blue color dawn dish washing soap. Let the soap sit on him for a few minutes. The fleas will rinse right off.

However, the fleas are not dead. They are stunned so make sure they get well flushed down a drain.

I have used topical drops on ferrets with no ill effects. Advantage, Revolution. We had 8 at one time. Used a tube for a 40 pound dog, gave my dog some and then a few drops in the fur for the ferrets. The same active ingredient used for cats and dogs. Some ferrets hate bathes and others love it. Had one boy follow us to the shower as he loved standing under the shower head. We usually only washed them in clear water only. The more shampoo or soap used the more oil they create and stink.

You can use the advantage or Frontline flea drops meant for kittens on ferrets. The Blue dawn bath is also very effective and gentle but it won't kill the eggs or larvae so you will have to repeat the bathes every two weeks. Frequent bathing isn't great for their skin and can make them produce greater amounts of the musk that makes them smell.

You also need to treat the area the animals lives in and any carpeting in any rooms he/she spends time exploring. Fleas are a real pain to get rid of.

sorry to read that...if you get another (any animal) use diatomacious earth to keep them free of fleas and parasites....topically and internally...it's real inexpensive, and works well....must always be FOOD GRADE though.
