Was Irv Homer married to a city politician? And he wasn't left wing, he was a libertarian.

I guess I have him confused with frank Ford who I never heard of before. I thought Irv Homer was married to Abraham. I also got the impression that he was very left wing from listening to him.

Nooooo, Irv was not left wing at all. He was a staunch Libertarian and proud tax-protester.

I always liked listening to Harry Gross. Loved when he told people that if they got a busy signal to hang up - holding on to a busy signal would not get them thru. If people didn't know that, they needed more than Harry Gross to help them.

Glad you enjoyed listening to Bernie. I produced his show at WOR from mid-70s til summer '79. Interesting experience!

I used to listen to Dr Meltzer and the Fitzgeralds on WOR on LI every night on a transistor radio in the kitchen. I loved them!! Man, this brings me back.

Do you remember him? He had a talk/advice show that was on Sunday mornings in my day, though it could have been at other times over the years. He was mostly in Philly, but I think also in NYC.

He would take caller questions on what seemed like every topic under the sun on his show called "What's Your Problem?" but he said he preferred the title "Guidance for Living."

Someone would call and ask about rebuilding trust in her relationship with her husband, and he'd give advice, then the next caller would ask how to rewire his downstairs rec room, and he'd give advice. Then someone would ask a question about real estate law, then about house-training a puppy, then about investing, then about proper etiquette when you get a present you don't like, then about buying a car, then about parenting a hyperactive kid, then about plumbing. He seemed to know everything about everything.

As a young kid, I said I "hated" the show when my parents would listen to it, but evidently I did listen, and it made an impression on me. I remember being able to stay home from Sunday school, only if I'd be quiet while the show was on.

Now as an adult, I've been an avid talk radio listener for like 20 years! Guess that is thanks to "Bernie."

Anyone else remember him?
Bernie and I were real estate investment partners in the 70s ... and friends. He was a total 'absent minded professor' and character in ''real life''

John
