Example if u buy a house can u put a swimming pool in your backyard, whether in ground or above ground. Also can one build a big metal fence to have a dog in the front yard portion of the house? Or even owning a dog.And do these zoning laws apply to other suburbs in or out of Philadelphia, other areas for example like Bensalem.

I am sure it depends on the address.
. Abington is a large township with many neighborhoods, from million dollar multi-acre estates to tiny bungalows on tiny lots. Other townships have the same variety of situations.

hmm I wonder if this line of questioning has anything to do with Abington and Bensalem being picked at the best places to live in the US by Money magazine?

Each community will have its own zoning laws. There are pools and fenced yards in Abington, though I don't know how easy it to get approval for them.

If I had a new neighbor who installed a "big metal fence" in their FRONT yard, I'd hate him for uglying up my neighborhood, and would probably never speak to him again. Keep the ugly metal crap out back.

in places i've seen where you can have fencing in your front yard, it typically has to be less than 3 ft tall and no greater than 50% surface area coverage. classic example would be a white picket fence. your typical ghetto chain link fence used to contain a pittbull would generally by higher than that so probably would not be allowed. but you would have to look at the municipal code for the township to be sure (and, if the home is in a neighborhood with a homeowners association, the HOA regulations)
