In order to speed up my commute to my job both ways I want to bike to and from my parking garage. My apartment is on 16th and walnut, and my parking garage for my car is on 12th and walnut. I'm on a waiting list for a garage closer to my apartment but for now the one on 12th street will do because it's the cheapest one I have found. Would it be a problem to leave my bike locked up outside on the street by my parking garage for the whole day? If so, would I need a really heavy duty bike lock? I have a bike lock now and it's a cable one, not sure if this is strong enough and if bike theft is a common occurence. I'll be getting a new bike as well since the one I currently have is at my Dad's and it's a mountain bike that is pretty old.

For 4 blocks? Buy a skateboard and throw it in your trunk.

A bike lock is only as good as the genius using it..........

I don't board. I'll make sure to get a heavy duty lock. I know it's four blocks, but with side streets it's like 6 blocks and it takes me ~7mins to walk one way (people, waiting for lights to turn, etc). 10 mins helps, not a huge amount but it would be nice.

Should be fine. I would like up your bike on Walnut. That street is always busy.

Cool, thanks. Good point about Walnut street, I'll be sure to do that when I finally get a bike and the weather gets a little better.
