Currently I'm living in Florida, I've been here for 2 and a half years. However, I used to live in Levittown - Bristol area, that's where I grew up. I really like Philly, all the different types of people from all walks of life. Everything is so close together, all the stores and shops are literally stuck together and people live above these places too. I always found that part fascinating! In the suburbs, the houses generally are separated and you have a yard out front and out back, and you have to drive to get to the store. But in Philly, you can walk to the corner store, or walk to the bar, walk to a place to get some food; it's really cool. I'm going to be honest...the reason why I chose to stay away from actually LIVING in the city is simply because of the whole driving and parking thing. People say it's easy to drive in the city once you get used to it, but I could never get the hang of it. The one way streets get me lost immediately. If I wasn't able to ask people for directions, I swear I'd be driving around Philly for all eternity like some kind of messed up Twilight Zone episode. And the parking!! What if you came home from work one day and there was absolutely no parking spaces near your house? Do you have to park blocks away sometimes? The thing I miss about Philly the most is the food. Hands down, no questions asked. If you tell someone around here that you want a cheesesteak, most of the time they just look at you completely puzzled because they have no idea wtf you're talking about. Same thing with a "hoagie", they don't know what it means, it's weird. Some places claim to have legit Philly Cheesesteaks, but it's all a joke. They just built a Wawa in Orlando though!!

We leave our car parked outside the city at a cheap lot accessible by rail (one at a MFL stop and another at a regional rail stop). There is no need to have a car in the city. Also it takes a very short time before you know your neighborhood like the back of your hand but you should probably have a phone with a data plan at least so that you can look up bus routes, places to eat, and events on the fly let alone the maps.

There are a lot of transplants down in FL, I just moved from St. Petersburg/Tampa to Philly less than 9 months ago. I have no passion for Philly like you do, but hey you're from here right? There is great food here in the city, it's something I cannot complain about and might miss later on. The problem is you're in Cape Coral, there are a lot of Philly transplants in the Tampa Bay area, I use to get some really great cheesesteaks in Spring Hill FL at a place called Phillys Best...look them up they might have one down near you. Philly's Best - Spring Hill, FL

Just explore more places down there, they have excellent Cubian food (pretty much the cheesesteak down there), great mexican, and pretty good NY pizza. FL is packed with transplants so you just have to get out and explore more.
