My family and I just moved to the Southampton area from AZ and we are currently living with my in-laws. We are looking to get out and rent our own place somewhere in the area (within ~30 minutes of Southampton) and prefer a 3 bedroom home. However, I am having a difficult time finding homes to rent in the northern suburbs and am wondering if anyone knows of some good sources for finding rentals.

$2000 seems reasonable for a 3 bedroom townhouse in that area. Rents in Philadelphia will be lower because of the school system and the wage tax.

Trulia is a really good source. You may want to move to Elkins Park, Abington, Bucks County, Reading. These places are near the city and have public trans running through them (well, except for Bucks). If you really want to distance yourself from Philly, but still be within a 20-30 minute drive you could consider a place in Bucks County.

I really would not recommend anybody looking to move into a good school district to move to Reading. Also, Bucks County is a huge county and the vast majority of it is nowhere near Philadelphia. Maybe the closest in parts.
