Can anyone recommend a local regional bank in the Philly area? I can't quite figure out why I want a brick and mortar bank....but it just makes sense. I have a son that will be living up there for a semester or so and I'm not a fan of big, national banks. My participation will most likely be needed as I'll be filling up the gas tank, among other expenses. I love my credit union, but it doesn't cross state lines... And, if you don't mind, why do you like them?

I'm a member of Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union and Police and Fire Federal Credit Union-they both are great although PSECU doesn't have a brick and mortar building in the area. PFFCU is located all over including Center City. You won't find better rates or service than credit unions.

You are wise to stay far away from Banks deemed "too big to fail" by their co-conspirators at The Federal Reserve-Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo. They are corrupt and vicious-I wouldn't trust them with a penny.

I've heard good things about Valley Green Bank in Mount Airy and now Chestnut Hill.

If you qualify for membership in a credit union, do so. Like the quoted text says, good rates and good service. I have my personal and corporate accounts at Valley Green. The service is excellent, they offer notary and similar services at no charge, and it just feels good to support a local business.
