I'm going up for a job interview at Malvern PA at 9:30am, I'm trying to figure out how much time I should give myself for the drive. I currently live in Atlantic County in Southern NJ.

I can get to Philly in approx 45mins from the AC Expressway, but when ever I visit Philly it is never during rush hour. How backed up does the traffic get around 8am on 76 within Philly on out towards KOP/Malvern.

Any help is appreciated. If I get this job I am planning on moving to the city proper but in the mean time I'm going to have this horrible commute.

How far are you from RT42 and 295? That is one of the trouble spot during traffic hour.

For a job interview. Definitely give yourself at least 2 hours for the travel time. Nothing wrong with leaving really early and stopping get yourself settle close to the interview location by 8:30. First impression is everything.

GL with the interview.

I am about 20min up the AC Express way from Atlantic City itself, close to Hammonton if that is an indicator. "Google maps" gives me an ETA of 1hr 15min so I was thinking of giving myself 2hrs. I just was unsure of how backed up 76 in Philly and 42 coming into Philly gets during the early morning commute.

I think you will leave yourself plenty of time if you leave by 7am. It shouldn't be bad by 42 and 295 by the time you get up there. I assume you will go across to Walt Whitman and head out toward KOP. Going through Philadelphia toward KOP after 8AM is unpredictable.

I would give yourself AT LEAST 2 hours and 30 minutes from Hammonton. I've driven to Malvern from both Mount Laurel and Haddonfield area numerous times during rush hour and it routinely takes me 90 minutes. 76 crawls most of the way and the roads around Malvern are pretty terrible too.

Thank you for the advice, I managed to land the job in Malvern, so now I'm looking for rentals. I've come to the conclusion that instead of looking for rentals just outside Center City, I don't think I can foot the bill, I'm looking for areas just outside Philly that have subways to the city. I'm not to familiar with the area but I've heard Manayunk is nice.

Look at Conshy as well, no city wage tax like is in Manyunk (to me if not living in CC live outside Philly and forgo the wage tax) - also there is back roads to Malvern from this area easier than Manyunk

Maybe also look at Wayne and Bryn Mawr or even West Chester but no train there

Best of luck
