Hi guys!

Good Morning.

After seeing a guy at Rittenhouse Square displaying his paintings for sale, I was encouraged to also do the same for extra income and as well as to promote my works.

Also can you tell me what are the best places in Philly to sell art?

I just really wanna know if I need to have one because I don't wanna get in trouble or anything.

If I do, can you also please tell me how do I apply for it?

Thank you so much.

You are going to need at the very least sidewalks sales license. To get that license, you may need a business license from Philadelphia as well.

Here you go: City of Philadelphia: Licenses

Depends on where is the city you want to set up.

Just go out there and do it. Worst that will happen is they'll just tell you to beat it. It's not worth the time, hassle and money of going through the city to sell a few paintings. If they kick you out just go somewhere else.

If you're really worried about it, go ask the guy you saw selling them what he did.

In Florida we have a department called business and professional regulations and they regulate licenses like that. There should be a similar department in Philly but I am not familiar with the name.

I've seen a guy selling home-made jewelry on Baltimore Avenue. Probably doesn't have a permit, though I believe he said he had permission of the person who owned the business he set up in front of.

And there are the First Fridays, too. I don't know what the process is to be included in that, but it can't be that hard. Good luck!

I wonder... why is the part of Baltimore Ave CLOSER to the suburbs (the western end of Baltimore Ave) still so run down? I don't see why the University City element hasn't claimed it yet.

Because...it's far away from the universities and the center of the city, which is what "the element" wants to be in proximity to?

But it has access to the same trolley, which goes to the VA hospital and ends near CHOP!
