FBJ :

OK so which of the TWO city halls are you talking about ? The old one from 1897, or the new one, from 1965 ? I think if you go back and look at the photos, you should be able to figure out which one is which......

By the way, the skating rink is simply a part of the city hall square, a Toronto landmark for many years. Its where we as a city, gather for festivals, and the weekly farmer's market in the summer, the New Years eve party, and the place where we celebrate our Canada Day, on July the first, each year.

So, which building is it that you think is..........?

Jim B. In Toronto.

Actually if you want to really see a truly SPECTACULAR outdoor winter festival go to NYC's Bryant Park. God, it's not just all the cool looking shopping nooks, but the insanely nice, two story, lounge/food pavilion. Phew.
And, of course, the ice skating rink is exceptional.

I really liked the Winterfest at Penn's Landing but it's not as good.

As far as the rink next to City Hall, you have confessed on other threads that you dislike City Hall, so just avoid it. Or tell the Center District people about what your thoughts. Stop whinning about it here.

Excuse me but the "flash" is the building, you know, City Hall.

Winterfest is not gorgeous, per se, but it works very well and is quite charming, IMO.

The building with the clock which I am guessing is the city hall building is the one I don't find attractive.

Bryant Park has an icky poo BUILDING on one side of it though (the NY Public Library), which probably kills the ambiance for...some.

It only ADDED to the positive vibe of the entire public space, IMO.

I remember when Bryant Park was filled with vermin, homeless people and was just a "no go" place. But that was back in the 70s.

You may have missed the sarcasm in my previous post...

Also it might as well be mentioned here that the Bryant Park renovation was designed by Philadelphia's renowned landscape architect Laurie Olin.
