Hello,

What is mass transit like in Northeast Philly? It looks pretty suburban near the Northeast philly airport and rent looks affordable. But what is mass transit like going to Center City on a Friday or Saturday night? How late would it run, and how long would it take?

Thanks.

You would be closest to the Torresdale train station. It takes about 1/2 hour. Check the schedule on SEPTA's website. It's the Trenton Line. You could also take a bus to Bridge Street and take the El into Center City. But, I'd recommend the train for convenience.

Trenton Line @ Torresdale or Cornwells Heights would be a quick 25-30 min ride into Center City.

Also the 20,50,84 would be the options to Frankford Terminal from the area. The 20 runs all night. The EL runs all night on Friday and Saturday nights. The 20 is the most frequent in that area. But make sure if you do take the 20 read the schedule because the 20 has ceartin trips that goes straight down Academy Road and some trips that run on Keswick Road.

The 20 would take a good half hour just getting to Frankford Terminal in itself then plus the "EL" would be another 20-25 mins. Whatever you feel like. So overall if you do go to Center City via the 20, and the EL you should be in good hands on Friday and Saturday....The Trenton Line last train from Center City To Trenton Friday/Saturday : 11:57 (Suburban Station)

Note also that there is 24-hour service every day on the Market-Frankford Line (the "El") as well.

Sundays through Thursdays, buses operate in place of trains from 12:30 a.m. to 5 a.m.

If you haven't yet picked a part of the Northeast to settle in, two other bus routes operate 24/7: Route 14, which runs up the Boulevard, and Route 66, the trolleybus that runs up Frankford Avenue. Both terminate at Frankford Transportation Center (the MFL terminus at Bridge Street).

And Somerton, the neighborhood at the Northeast's far northwest corner, also has a Regional Rail station, on the West Trenton (R3) line. Bus route 58 operates along Bustleton Avenue almost all the way to Somerton.
