Hello folks:

Looking for a rental in Philly starting in July, and one of our leads is The Glen at Shawmont Station. Are you familiar with that area? Any thoughts? Our top priorities are safety and commuting convenience (to Center City and U Penn), with or without a car (to be decided based on where we end up).

I'd appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks.

I believe that's the new apartment complex at the corner of Shawmont and Umbria. Certainly a safe area, though in any large apartment complex there is a chance of having a knucklehead for a neighbor. As far as commuting, the R6 station is probably a little less than a mile down Umbria (trains don't actually stop at Shawmont station) but it's not really a great walk - no sidewalks, can have a lot of traffic. You're pretty close to the Schulykill at Green lane by car, only about 5 or so minute drive.

Default Thanks, maf763!

Hey maf763:

Thanks very much for your thoughts. I really appreciate your info on the nearby train stations -- that is EXTREMELY helpful.
