I'm a fairly new resident of the Philly suburbs and don't know anyone to ask this:

I need a new Primary Care physician in the Independence Blue Cross network. Someone who will listen and not look at lab results and say,"Sorry, the results are normal--you're fine," when I know there is something wrong. A doctor who is open to the possiblity that atypical patients exist, that you sometimes have to dig to find out what is wrong.

My current doctor told me "everyone thinks they're atypical but no one actually is atypical--it's all in their heads". That's not true and I have medical records to prove it. He had dismissed those records out-of-hand.

I live in Elkins Park and would like to find a doctor in the area--Abington, Willow Grove, up to a 20 minute drive, I guess. Is anyone out there lucky enough to have found a good physician?

Second, I have many symptoms of hypothyroidism, but because my lab tests results came back normal, my PC doc won't treat me. I researched and found out that there is a condition called 'subclinical hypothyroidism' in which a person can have hypothyroidism, but for his/her body type the lab tests come out normal, although normal for one person could be abnormal for another.
If anyone knows of a doctor who believes in subclinical hypothyroidism I would appreciate a reference. PM me if that is what is required on this site.

Thanks!
