I just saw the video and news report of the police officer who went wild in a Lukoil convenience store and assaulted a young woman. Officer Lopez needs to be off the force and his superiors disciplined for trying to cover up his outrageous abuse of power. Lopez' son needs to face criminal charges too for instigating a confrontation, resulting from a minor traffic accident, that he apparently caused. The victim, Miss Lawless is suing and hopefully she'll win her case.

Default Philly Cops

How did this place ever become known as the city of brotherly love? WHY would anyone live there or move there? I'd be afraid of winding up in a gulag on the perjured testimony of a badge wearing thug. I'm sure there are a few folks in Pennsylvania prisons for just that reason. Had there been no video, an innocent woman might have done jail time on a manufactured charge. Some departments have issues like this one with such frequency, that it points to a culture of corruption that is pervasive, entrenched and broadly tolerated. How can citizens have any faith in law enforcement, when huge numbers of cops see no problem with framing innocent citizens while ignoring the very real criminal behaviour of their fellow officers? Maybe ... if the Fraternal Order of Police didn't make it impossible to fire cops who are clearly criminals, these incidents would be genuinely rare.

Down on Philly, Pennsylvania AND the FOP, maybe you'd be better off in Reno. But why troll the Philly board

ppl from DC warn Philly about the new police commisioner. I think philly cops are more aggressive, but I don't blame then after soooo many cops getting killed. If I was one of them, I'll probably do the same.

There's a huge difference between being aggressive to a criminal or suspected criminal caught in the act and making up false charges against a young woman and assaulting her. You'd expect the police to come down hard on this bozo becasue he's a disgrace to the department and will only end up hurting the 99% of other officers who do a good job and actually care about serving the community.
