Here is a short article/blog I wrote about how I see anger.

The musings of a sympathetic misanthrope: Anger is a Drug

Please feel free to comment/discuss/opine.etc. Would be much appreciated. I think if we could eliminate the 'good feelings' that anger gives we could eliminate a lot of violence and discord in the world today.

Anger is often, nowadays, a correlative of Closure, which has become a cottage industry. People are allowed to get as angry as they like, and to vent their anger, until closure is attained, at which time they are supposed to stop. And the state has taken it upon itself the responsibility to get everybody's closure for them, by sending Americans to prison by the millions.

Anger rarely makes me feel good. And the few times that it did feel good, it usually ended up feeling awful after the episode was over.

There is probably no way to avoid feeling anger sometimes, but there are ways we can learn to manage it.

Anger is a natural feeling that needs to work out of your system quickly.

I believe many problems in the world are caused by holding on to anger and not letting go. It is called an unforgiving spirit. You cannot move on while holding on to anger.

anger is a complex prism...

on one hand no one can MAKE you angry , unless you allow it.....but sometimes getting the pent up frustration out is good

anger is different for everyone....some people just totally flip ...

I wouldn't know about ANY good feelings that come from anger, none at all..just hurt feelings, resentments, and discontent.

I agree anger is a drug and like all drugs it can be used, misused, abused and over dosed.

Properly used anger can be a stimulant and catalyst to complete a needed action we do not desire to do. Improperly used it can cause more damage than good or at best simply fail to achieve any desirable effect. Over dosed it is deadly and can be a very painful form of self destruction.

Like all drugs it should only be used when absolutely needed and in the minimum level needed to obtain the desired result. For best results in using anger, study all the cautions first and see if a safer alternative can be used.

I agree. I think it feels positive because you are letting it out and therefore, taking action rather than just internalizing the anger with all the mental and physical ills that create. Expressing anger is good for you unless you become criminal about it!
