I don't watch TV that much, so I don't care for the 100+ channels. I only have Cox's plan, not the basic, but the next one above. I also don't care for satelite dishes hanging on my house either.

Cox seems to have a monopoly on both cable and high-speed internet, and I think they are slightly more expensive than satelite.

Also, be careful, and it can get scary, especially for us guys, if you don't pay your cable bill on time, you'll get your Cox cut off... Okay.. a little silly humor..

Cox is more expensive if you are just getting the basics. If you want the total package meaning multiple DVR's, phone, and high speed internet, Cox is cheaper. So it depends on what you are seeking

If you are seeking quality, I wouldn't touch it.

The other factors you have to account for when purchasing satelite is the user friendly factor. It takes longer to change channels. Their guide and information screen isn't very easy to use. Cox is very easy to use and it's displays are clean.
Not true at all, I stream movies and TV shows on a daily basis, and never have any problems, never had an outage, and I never get any spam.

Please don't spread misinformation. Cox's guide is outdated and down right ugly, when compared to DTV it's laughable. My channels change immedieltly with no delays, I don't think you have ever had satalite service?

I have the best of both worlds. To me, Cox is far and away better than Qwest for high speed internet, but DirecTV is far and away better than Cox for TV. I should say, I have not used the fiber-optic qwest high speed, which is fairly new and probably comparable to Cox. I'm not even sure if that fiber optic qwest is available in my area yet, but it sounds like it's worth checking out.

As far as TV, DirecTV is better and it's not even close. Not only is DirecTV cheaper, it has a better DVR with more storage (I have the whole home system that Cox is just starting to offer), it has NFL Sunday Ticket, it has better sports offerings with many more regional sports channels than Cox offers, it has more HD channels, and it has other things that I cannot and will not be able to get on Cox. And I have never had an issue with the channels changing slowly either. That may be that the box azriverfan had was outdated, because they seem to upgrade their boxes regularly.

Also, I bundle Qwest home phone with DirecTV and Verizon Wireless, although I am looking at getting rid of the home phone entirely and just going with our 2 mobile phones. I think it saves me a little money, and it all comes out of the DirecTV automatic monthly payment bundled together.

I only bundle internet and tv, i don't have a home phone, just bundling the 2 is cheaper.

Also, Qwest gauruntees their speeds withing 5%. I have done upload/download tests with cox at peak hours and received **** poor results...The 7mb and 12mb speeds that qwest offer are simply great. I have never once had an outage or spam either. And have no problem streaming hd movies from netflix or any other streaming that i do.

I also spend a lot less ~20 per month with my direct tv and qwest internet than i did with my cox internet/tv bundle. So for people to say cox is cheaper and better i guess is personal preference. Because for me it is nowhere near the case.

for the person asking who the bundle/payments go through, mine is through qwest, i send my single bill to them for both the qwest and the directtv.

I used to have my directTV alone, then I signed up for the Qwest internet and now it's just one bill each month, but it was very confusing to switch since everything had to be prorated.

Okay, let's get one thing straight, people don't prefer DSL over Cable, they settle on it. Qwest DSL pales in comparison to Cox high speed for the reasons I stated. People deal with it to save money and can deal with an occasional outage and slowness but you have no idea what you are talking about if you are trying to say the quality is the same between them.

And the slowness in channel changing is a well known phenomenon among satellite subscribers. Look, I'm not one of these people who is worried about saving money. I will spend money to have better quality. The reason I don't have satellite is the quality stinks. The only reason I'm willing to get it again is for the NFL Sunday ticket and I'm not cancelling my Cox service to do so. I know they have more HD channels and channels in general but I don't really need to watch a bunch of random channels, I would rather have a reliable system with a very user friendly system and guide.

Look, I'm not one of these people who is worried about getting a Sams Club and Costco membership so what makes you think I'm not willing to spend money on the very best that is out there. I've had sattelite and it quite frankly stinks. If it was better, I would have it.
The quality is the same, not worse. I do not think you have ever used DSL if you're making these assumptions based purely on your opinion.

I have never had an outage, and have no problems with my speeds. I can easily stream movies and download files with ease, and like I said the speed is the same, if not faster than when I had Cox.

As for the apperent slowness or lagging in channel changing, that must have been a long time ago, because I have had DirectTV for the last 2 years and there is absolutely NO lag when I change channels, it's immediate.

To me it sounds like you may have had satalite or DSL back in the day when the technology was older and slower? Maybe you had a bad experience, but that does not give you the right to go around spreading misinformation.

I've already told you I've used DSL. ASUfan confirmed what I said above and he likes sattelite so he is not taking my side. Did you ignore what he wrote?

What speed did you have with Cox considering they have 3 different speeds.

This is a dumb pi$#4ing contest. You have your experience, I have mine. I could say the same thing about your comments. I could just as easily say you are being irresponsible telling people DSL is as fast as Cox. Either way, I will get satellite in the fall to go along with my Cox cable so I will report my findings then. If DirectTV is better, I will concede that point. I've done so before regarding Macs versus PC's; I used to be a PC guy and can't imagine going back to one after having a MAC
