Just curious how the open enrollment works in the area's schools because I have never lived in a State which allowed this before. So just because you live in a particular area doesn't mean your child has to go to that school? You can enroll them into any school you would like?

Yes, but you have no "right" to enroll them in a district other than your own. That means the other district does not have to accept them just because you want them to go there. The usual reason for not taking new ones on is because they are full and out of space already. Good schools can have waiting lists especially if the nearby schools are not as good. So call and check to be sure. Also, you have to provide your own transportation.
