my wife and i are coming into town for a week and are going to take in a d-backs game. game time is 6-ish and i was just wondering if there were any cool places to hang out downtown prior to or after the game for dinner/drinks, etc. also any tips on parking would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

p.s. game is a thursday night, if that matters.

I've only been down for a D-backs game once and I'm newer to the area and don't know all there is to know about downtown. But there appears to be plenty of parking and bars/restaurants within walking distance to the ball park. If you'll have light rail access wherever you're staying I'd highly recommend that. That's how I went to the game and it was very efficient.

There are a handfull of bars down Jefferson St (Alice Coopers Town is a big attraction) but the main place to be before a game is right next to the stadium near the entrances...its called Sliders. Great place to grab a few drinks and people watch.

I always park in the lot on the southwest corner of Lincoln and 7th St. It's a very easy lot to get in and out of and generally they charge $5. I was there on opening day and the lots around them were charging anywhere from $20 to $30 but they kept their usual price @ 5 bucks.

Who are the dbacks playing on that Thursday night? If it's the cubs allow yourself some extra time...those games tend to sell out and some parking lots actually raise their prices because of this.

Have fun!

Chico's Grill at 7th and McDowell...........I've never been there, but they do have 2 Dollar imports during happy hour. I'll bet if you spent 20 there, you could leave your car there during the game. Puts you within 15 minutes of the stadium, by foot. Let us know if you find a great place. I used to go to George and Dragons, which is very close to the LR at IS, but I had to banish them for life for Winter Rudeness, recently. 7th and McDowell might be just far enough on the perimeter that you can avoid some of the after game congestion. Factor in which direction you are heading after the game, also.

The OP didn't say WHICH week they are visiting, or WHICH Thursday.

We went on Monday night. $15 at 3rd and Jackson. If you're staying on the north or east part of town you can take the light rail.

Actually I think it is APRIL 14th, but you are correct NO GAME that day. Plenty of good seating available.

If you do get to a game. Coach & Willies on 3rd St. just west of Chase is a popular place.

There is also TGI Friday's Front Row in the stadium where you can overlook the field while you eat/drink.

we are going on the 28th to the cubs game. we're staying at the legacy at south mountain so i guess an approach up 7th? we'll probably get downtown a couple hours early, unless that's a bad idea for parking/traffic? thanks for all the suggestions. keep em comin.
anyone been to the tee pee tap room? i'm kind of a beer geek so was just curious as to a good beer joint downtown.
