It has been announced that Valley Metro has ordered 17 New Flyer DE60LFR diesel-electric hybrid articulated buses for the Tempe division.

Having just moved into the Phoenix area from the Albuquerque area, it is great to see that Valley Metro is ordering a great model of bus. ABQ RIDE in Albuquerque operates 18 New Flyer DE60LFs and 6 DE60LFRs on the Rapid Ride.

Other than one New Flyer DE40LFR in the Valley Metro fleet, which was purchased mainly as a prototype for future purchases of hybrids, this is Valley Metro's first major order of diesel-electric hybrid buses.
