Does anyone know what the demand for phelbotomy jobs in phoenix area? Im going to be attending the school shortly and would like to know how difficult it would be to get a job when I graduate. I read it was hard to get a job here in the nursing field and didnt know if it was the same. Much thanks to those who replied to my last thread and looking forward to your inputs.

What type of organization do you want to work for? I believe Sonora Quest is our biggest laboratory-services company. They contract people out to various locations throughout the valley. Some hospitals do not have in-house phlebotomists, but instead contract Sonora Quest personnel. Sonora Quest also have their own labs throughout the valley.

I believe the issue with nursing here in the valley is finding qualified nurses. I work for a hospital with an overabundance of new grads. But going into flu season/winter, we are definitely short seasoned nursing staff.

Check out the Sonora Quest website and also select a few hospitals to browse their nursing opportunities online. I think you'll find that RNs are needed just about anywhere, but some organizations may pass over new grads for more seasoned nurses. IMO

I've had my blood drawn by many newbies at a lab in the East Valley at St. Joseph's Lab's. Have you asked the school if they have a placement service?

Get more certs. clap clap clap. Get more certs. clap clap clap. CNA & phlebotomy or even a surgery tech would do good. Get in one of these places as a volunteer and be on them. Or if you know someone that works for a hospital you will get in. But don't be to aggressive or they will get rid of you.

Mayo and banner are notorious for not hiring outsiders. You can see this by the pages of phlebotomy jobs available, yet lots of phlebotomy techs unemployed.

The fun of Arizona politics.
