Cox for cable and internet, what's your monthly bill? (how much, home)

Mine is $135, for cable and internet. Any way to lower it?

That is about how much ours was. We didn't have premium stations, and I think it was about the 2nd television package offered (I forget what it was called). And we had a DV-R. We were in a similar position and wanted our bill lowered.

We cancelled the cable. We have a HDTV and still get a good amount of stations in. We have the internet that is just above the equivalent to dial-up. Our bill is now about $40.

Couldn't be happier (especially since we save about $100/month)!

190 a month here and no way that I have found to lower it.. cable/internet/phone with HDDVR, HBO, STARZ and 2nd to top tier of internet. I did find that if I cancel my phone it would cost me 10 dollars more a month then without it which sucks.

Yea, Cox will lock you into a two-year agreement just to save 10 bucks a month on the bill. They claim it's to lock your price in and prevent increases, however it will still go up. I couldn't be more frustrated with Cox, it just seems like there is no viable alternative.

Agree, I am not a huge fan of them but I do really like their internet speeds... once I move I think I will check around and see if I can get a better deal getting Dish or Direct for TV service and cox for internet and drop the home phone all together.. I like the new Dish Hopper that they have so I wouldnt mind checking that out.

We kept Cox for internet and got Direct TV, dropped our bill about $40. We dropped the home phone, some people like that for 911 use, though. Our bill is less than $100 a month for TV/Internet now.

I'm thinking to switch to this kind of combo too. Can you or other members tell me what's the difference between Direct TV and Dish Network?

I've had both, direct tv and dish.....IMO....direct tv is much better...but it has been a couple of years since I've had dish.

If you only use the internet for emails and minimal other uses(few hours a day) I would have direct tv for my tv channels, verizon for your internet use from your smart phone hot spot and get rid of your land line phone.

We also did the same thing, but went from Cox to DISH to DirecTV and I can say I like DirecTV the best.

We still have Cox for internet and pay $53.99/month and for DirecTV we are paying $52/month right now, it was $42 but one of the promotions ended. No premium channels but we do have an HDDVR. I really like the format of DirecTV, looks much cleaner and high tech than Cox and DISH.

If you go with DirecTV, you can save $10/month for 10 months by saying you got referred by someone who is already a DirecTV customer (that's why our bill was $42 and now it's $52)...so if you sign up, let me know and we can both save $10/month.

We don't like the high cable tv prices offered anywhere, so we just don't have any. We pay $39.99/mth for cox internet though (at the 2nd level tier of speed). The new HD TV's do great at getting all broadcast channels, which is anywhere from the 4 common channels (NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS; and/or WGTV), to all of them, plus some (up to 10+ channels, though you will likely not watch the others). Then $8/mth for netflix isn't a bad deal. There's always something on there we can find to watch, and we just hook it up to our TV's. So really, I'd rather be paying this less than $50/mth for tv/internet than the $100+ most are paying for nearly 100+ channels they aren't even watching.
