We had an early flight on Xmas Day, so we stayed at a hotel near the airport and walked to Szechwan Palace for Xmas Eve dinner. That and Ranch 99 were the only retail storefronts still in business there. What happened to them all? Szechwan Palace was jam packed and we even saw one couple get up and leave in disgust after waiting almost an hour for their food. We went again tonight and, again, it was packed. Seems to me there is definitely a market for this stuff. The only other good Sichuan places are near each other on Ray Rd. and pretty far for us. Anyone know if the COFCO Center is going away or has plans for a comeback?

Went to Szechuan Palace for lunch a couple of days ago, and noticed the same thing. I don't know that it's "going away"-- yes, there's a market for good Szechuan Chinese, (didn't there used to be more than one restaurant there?) but evidently not so much for the other types of retail they had in there (jewelry, Chinese imports, I don't remember what else was there.) The lack of visibiliity from the street is part of the problem, and even the name "Chinese Cultural Center" doesn't tell people who've never been there that it's intended as a retail location.
