I have seen some high temps in the next few days and also currently.
Is this normal for April ?
Does it get hotter than this in the summer ?

What are the policys with kids being outside at school when it is so hot ?
Do they keep them inside when it reaches a certain temperature during school hours or do they still make them go outside at recess time ?

Yes, this is normal for the end of April. We're usually near or above 100 degrees from this time of year onward.

Does it get hotter than this? YES. This is nothing compared to what we'll see later in summer.

At schools - recess is usually still outside, though PE classes usually move indoors.

It's been a bit above normal the last couple of weeks, actually, if you listen to the weather reports. It does not always reach 100 in April.

Yes, it gets much hotter than this in the summer, can be as much as 15 degrees hotter.

Right now, kids are going outside as normal. I would imagine that, for year round schools or those who start early in August, that while it may vary somewhat from district to district, the kids are released for recess, lunch, etc, as normal. Kids are used to the temperatures. They go outside on the weekends, they are in fact outside more when they are off from school than the brief recess and lunch periods at school. Water is available, and they can certainly find shade at most schools.

It's actually quite a bit hotter than the 30 year average. The average is 87 degrees for todays date.

With the lack of humidity this time of year, 100 sounds like it is sizzling but since it's so dry, 100 degrees is surprisingly comfortable. I'm not saying it isn't hot, it just isn't furnace hot like some people describe it.
Today I'm doing so painting on the house and it's certainly not unbearable. It's actually quite nice. Particularly if you're in the shade at all. Getting into your car if it's been in the sun can be edgy for the first few minutes until the A/C cools it down but other than that, it's not that bad. As a matter of fact, I still haven't had to use my A/C or evap cooler yet this year but it's getting close. I almost turned on the cooler last night before bed but I turned on a small fan by the bed before I turned on the cooler and the fan was all I needed to be very comfortable.
100 is pretty nice, 105 is tolerable, even up to 108 and I can do anything I want outside. Once it gets hotter than that, I do have to make a few concessions. A dip in the pool now and then to cool off if I'm working outside. 115 and I'm in the pool most of the day. lol. Luckily, 115 doesn't happen that often. If you look at the "average" temps for July and August, it's only about 105. It does get hotter but it also can be much cooler as well.
It sure beats shoveling snow and in my case, being from Oregon, I'll take the heat over 10 months of rain any day of the week.
