I've been here 5 months and cannot find a job. I"m heading back to the Midwest. I will not lie, I'm not looking forward to the cold winter, snow and ice, but I am looking forward to not being trapped around stucco fences. It will be nice to see trees, green grass and real lakes. If only I could take the sunshine home with me.

What industry are you in? I found a job in about 10 days, and had at least one interview a day for that time. I also had 5 different employment agencies/recruiters looking on my behalf and also on my own via craigs list

Sorry you have to go back.

Sorry to hear things haven't worked out for you! I experienced something similar years ago, but unfortunately my family had to suffer through it with me! Good luck!

I just walked across the street to get lunch and enjoyed the sunshine and 70's while thinking about the slush that I'd be walking through and the below zero wind chill I'd be enjoying back in PA today.

Woo Hoo!

Ideally, I'd have two homes: One in the Phoenix metro area from Nov. through March, another here in the Pacific NW from April through October. Boiled down to a choice between the two, though, I could not bear that summer heat. Here, during most winters, it's wet, but you can go out with just an unlined parka or light or mid-weight jacket. I have a down coat, and only wore it recently after probably five years of not using it. However, I'm an escapee from the Upper Midwest, so Pacific NW winter weather seems mild to me.

We have snow. It was so cold this morning I could not clear off the snow from my car. However, it was not too bad when I went to get some dinner. People were still jogging. That's dedication. I like taking long walks in the cold. As long as you are dressed properly, it can be quite pleasant. It clears the senses. Wind makes it unpleasant.

No, summer(as well as fall and spring) is swimming pool season... lounging in a pool with a drink in hand is our "Bad" season
