Hello!

I'm looking for info about Mesa and Tempe as we are considering a fresh start by moving to the area from out of state. I'm hoping to find out what areas of each city are safer, and we would like to be away from the university students. Working at Sky Harbor. Looking at renting (not buying) a SFH that's not too far from the airport. It looks like these 2 cities are pretty close. Schools are not an issue as we're empty nesters.

Thank you in advance!

Stay south of Broadway and you may not even know the University is there unless you go up there. Tempe is also a safe city, most of the crime is property crime, and most of it takes place in the area close to the University. If you need proximity to the airport, Tempe is the place to be. West Mesa is not much farther, but the overall quality of life in Tempe is better. Good public transit, good parks and rec and library dept, good shopping.

Plug in 85282 and 85283 on the home rental websites and see what you see.

Many thanks to the both of you! And Java Jolt, I just read your DM reply. We're looking forward to our move, and at least have a place to begin looking. Much appreciated!
