Exactly. The temporary closure of Sky Harbor on the 122 day in June, 1990 had nothing to do with concerns about the concrete/asphalt (I don't think there is any asphalt on the runways), but the fact that they had no aircraft performance data for over 120. And, I read that if it hit 122 again, the airport would not close, as the aircraft performance charts have been updated.

Most manufacturers test aircraft in the Middle East, where 120 degree temps are quite commonplace in areas. How could they not have that data?! They even fly them to the Artic Circle in Canada to subject them to extreme cold for Petes sake.

It was nearly 100 a the end of March last year, but didn't officially hit til the beginning of May, I think. It's not going to hit this week.

I understand, but that was the stated reason at the time. It had noting to do with the runway surfaces.
