All,

It has been a while since I last posted, in the meantime, I bought a house in McCormick Ranch that has a great lot and great bones but needs a little updating. Our architectural tastes lean a little more towards the modernist, minimalistic style so we are going to redo the place in a soft modernist style.

Anyway, not being from the area, I am looking for a reputable contractor to handle the remodel, keeping in mind, it needs to be someone who can work with us to get the style and feel of the remodel. I think this means that we either have to have an interior designer working in conjunction with the contractor or hire a firm that has both a design and build capability to it. Does anyone have any opinions on which of the 2 routes makes the most sense or would be the less costly route?

Also, does anybody have any remodel contractors that they would recommend, preferably somebody who has experience with modern building and design? This is not a multi-million dollar home so we don't need somebody who is super high-end, something in the middle is what we are looking for - maybe a $100,000ish remodel job. The bathrooms were already done in a modern fashion and now we need to redo the floors, change the doors and lighting fixtures, redo the kitchen and a few other minor items. We have been through quite a few homes that have been remodeled in this fashion during our home search so I know there are guys out there who are doing this well.

If anybody knows of anyone they would recommend for a job like this, please let me know, either PM me or respond to the thread. We would appreciate any help we can get.

If this is the wrong forum for a question like this, I respectfully ask the moderator to point me towards the proper forum.

Thanks!

We used Republic West to do our kitchen remodel. They sent out a designer who did a preliminary design at no charge. We were very pleased with the design and the resulting work. They are not inexpensive, though.
