Hello, I'm looking for recommendations for a getaway somewhere east of Phoenix, not too far. I was first looking at Springdale area but Mapquest shows it as 4 hours from Phoenix. I would prefer to be less than 2 hours from Phoenix. Would like to rent a small cabin in the woods, not from a private owner but an established place with a number of cabins on the property, perhaps with some amenities on the property (such as a hot tub). The cabin must have a full kitchen as I plan to make my own meals. Any recommendations? Would like hiking trails nearby and maybe a small town with a few shops. I don't need restaurants or any entertainment. I plan to mostly sightsee during the day and hike.

Payson and Tonto/Christopher Creek area would be your best bet. Also look around Sedona/Oak Creek which is north of Phoenix. That area has many options for short term rentals.
