This is kind of old news, but I just found out a month or so ago about this! Those that are transplants from the Midwest (Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin or North Dakota) may be happy to know that there is a Happy Joe's location in Gilbert! It is the only one that is not in one of the above listed Midwestern states.

Now I can get real taco pizza

You know, I lived two blocks from one for ten years and never ate there. I was always curious about the BLT pizza though....

Growing up in Iowa, Happy Joe's was always a big part of my childhood. It was the go to place for birthday parties. When I was really young, it was part ice cream parlor/candy store (think black and white checked floors and guys in paper hats scooping out hard serve) and the rest was a pizza parlour. They had video games and ran a siren and announced birthdays.

They still have a good ice cream selection with all kinds of sundaes, and of course their different pizzas including their taco. I like the "little Joe" pizza which is a 6" personal pizza.

TACO PIZZA? Don't believe I've ever heard of such a thing! Guess I'll have to give it a taste-test before I comment-- because normally -- to me pizza is just pizza.

Theirs is pizza crust with a sauce that is a mixture of refried beans and pizza sauce, topped with taco seasoned meat (I get mine no meat) and cheese, then baked. Out of the oven they add shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes and doritos. They have a taco supreme that is all of that plus onions, jalapenos, and sour cream.

They also have a BLT pizza and a cheeseburger pizza

I used to live by one in Wisconsin. I loved their Taco Pizza as well. I might have to go check it out this weekend. Thanks for the info!

If you do, please report back if it was as good as you remember. I haven't tried it here yet!

The Mexican actually sounds tasty. Sometime when I'm headed that way, I'm going to check it out.
