Ill just soak up the rays in silence at my pool, thank you.
Lol!!!! Ewwwwww!!!! Hahaha I'm never going there ever again.

also, I read an article recommending that people get a tetanus shot before going on the river...is it really THAT badly polluted that a tetanus shot is recommended?
After reading what BIG CATS posted, I'd say a tetanus shot (and then some ) is in order!!

Saguaro, Canyon or Apache Lakes all would be good. Don't know how far you can kayak but if you can get into the back side of Canyon it's worth it.

Didn't read the whole thread, but if you're going to do the river, be absolutely sure you wear sandals/pool slipper thingys/footwear at all times. Lots of broken glass everywhere. When I went there was always one person who didn't think it would affect them, and those people always got their feet sliced to ribbons.

Don't leave anything of value at that upper lot. You'd be amazed at the amount of glass from break-ins.

No idea why anyone would get in any river without footwear on. Even if there wasn't glass, sharp rocks and all kinds of other hidden objects can be a problem. I made this mistake once in the ocean in hawaii, lava rocks sliced me up far better than anything I've ever seen on the salt river. That was enough of a lesson for me.

If you're worried about that particular stretch of the salt river, which by the way a ton of us kayak regularly without any issues, but you can make your own decision. Then head up to the upper salt river, it's far prettier, way more isolated and you won't see anyone tubing it.
