I tend to agree...NYC is a beast to live in and the winters are brutal.

I love working here though, the energy, the pulse, i'm just so afraid I won't feel the energy or passion for job in Phoenix. I guess there is no way to tell.
The energy will definitely be different here! There is some hustle and bustle, but nothing like what you have in NY. Just prepare for a slower (not bad) pace out here. Honestly, there's no place like NY for the energy, vibe, activities, culture, ect. Vegas can't even compare. You have to be willing to accept what Phoenix has to offer and not compare it to where you're coming from otherwise it will affect your stay. Good luck with your decision.

I think it depends on where you work and what kind of team you're part of, I believe this to be true regardless of what part of the country you're living in. My teams in Phoenix have always had strong work ethics, commonly working long nights and occasionally we burn the midnight oil and even order in late night food to get a project done. I'll say generally it is more laid back here and we do try to balance work/life but not mistake that for a lack of energy or passion to get work done.

Make sure you spend time interviewing your new team members as much as they do interviewing you. No idea what industry you work in but Phoenix is a diverse economy so I'd guess you can find work in about any area you may be looking for here.

Best of luck with the move and transition.

Many stories about NYC to here >>> for me after working in Manhattan for 12 years commuting from NJ where I grew up I was burnt out and moved out here first time in 1993 for 7 years left and finally came back in 2013 and loving each and every single day including the summers - we are so detached from bad weather (floods, fires, hurricanes, etc.) I mean really we have a solution for heat and that is AC and pools etc. Don't hesitate and come on already! Wish my family would move here would be perfect.
