Starbucks barista asks police officers to leave because customer 'did not feel safe,' police union claims.

A group of police officers were reportedly asked to move or leave a Starbucks coffee shop on the Fourth of July because a customer felt uncomfortable.

According to a tweet from the Tempe Officers Association, six Tempe Police Department officers were drinking coffee before their shift at the Starbucks near Scottsdale and McKellips roads when a barista told them a customer "did not feel safe" by their presence.

The barista allegedly asked the officers to move out of the customer's line of sight or to leave, the tweet states.

"This treatment of public safety workers could not be more disheartening. While the barista was polite, making such a request at all was offensive. Unfortunately, such treatment has become all too common in 2019," the organization wrote. "We know this is not a national policy at Starbucks Corporate and we look forward to working collaboratively with them on this important dialogue."

OK, so we have six armed people, ready to protect this complainant if danger should appear, but then this person DOES NOT FEEL SAFE?

Starbucks has one strange business model we already know about. But sacrificing six paying customers for only one makes no sense at all.

Then again, this is Starbucks

I had to read this a second time. Leave this person's line of sight? Really?

What are your thoughts?

Perhaps some questions need to be asked of that particular customer. Why was that person uncomfortable in the first place?? Police officers have every right to stop in a coffee shop or a restaurant, even if it's just for a cup of coffee.

just another reason to hate Starbucks...

here's an idea many can get behind...

Maybe the customer needs a Portland-style crowbar to the head antifa treatment while the police officers stay out of his line of sight.

I'd love to hear a recording of a 911 call from that place... "HELP, we're being robbed!" "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, but we wouldn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable! Why don't you ask the robbers to step out of your line of sight or leave?"

True... but any business owner has the right to ask people to leave.

My question is, does this barista still work there? If so, that's an indication that Starbucks and this location approve of her actions, and I hope they're boycotted to death. If this isn't Starbucks or store policy, I'd expect to see her fired immediately.

That location's number is (480) 941-6046, let's call and ask them about this...

More overpriced products from companies I can boycott.

That's extra money in my wallet for the long run. The nice thing about free market enterprise, you can spend your money however you want, whenever you want at whatever establishment.
