Any thoughts on 85048? Is it a good area?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you! Wanted to know first and foremost about safety of the area. And about commuting to tempe or phoenix business areas. Are there decent shopping areas not too far- that sort of thing

What's a decent shopping area to you? There's nearly 5 millions people in metro Phoenix. Shopping areas are plentiful. Assuming that you're referring to corporate locations the area would be closest to the companies in Tempe near 202.

There is plenty of shopping along Ray Rd/I-10 area and Chandler Mall is straight down the 202 to the east. As far as proximity to Tempe or Phoenix employment areas, well, Phoenix is huge, but downtown wouldn't be all that far and Tempe is not far at all. Of course, the closer you are to I-10 the closer to everything else you will be.

All in all its a really nice area with good schools and definitely safe.

Ahwahtukee is a nice place to live.

Just be careful, and make the right choice. There is flooding happening from time to time.

Awahtukee has been referred to as the world's largest cul-de-sac. Traffic getting out of there in the morning is reportedly brutal. I had the reverse commute once upon a time, working at 51st St and Piedmont, and the traffic was not what I would call delightful. Nice place to live though.

I think the 202 extension probably alleviates the traffic issue although I don’t know that for certain

Definitely to some extent. It can no longer be referred to as a "cul-de-sac" thanks to that, either.

Thanks all for your replies. By shopping areas, I meant distance. I wouldn't want to drive 30 minutes to get to a grocery store. Sounds like that wouldn't be the case. I'll definitely look into the area further.
