I will be living by I-17 and Happy Valley, my husband said that garbage pick-up and recycling are on 2 different days? That's a little strange, is this normal in phoenix? He also said they dump both the garbage and recycling in the same spot. Is this true? Is this a new way of recycling? Should I bother separating my garbage even though they will be dumped in the same hole? Maybe my husband was mis-informed.

Yes Phoenix has two pickup days each week. One pickup is the blue container for recycled items ONLY, the green container is for other trash. It’s always nice to help with the environment and try to separate items. To my knowledge the city doesn’t dump this in the same hole. They have a large recycle area that they separate the paper, plastic etc.

I figured he was mis-informed. We will continue to recycle in Phoenix and I will let my husband know he was given the wrong information.

Thanks again,
