Hi all,

I've seen threads on moving to Phoenix and people wanting to get advice, but I still really need help. So I thought I could get some quick answers with my own thread....Here's the deal....I am married, two kids in elementary school, own a house now but will rent when we get there, can spend between $1,200 and $1,800 for rent, work out of the house and wife stays at home, and my commute will be to the airport.....given all that; I want to live somewhere affordable, safe, great schools, family oriented, and airport commute doesn't matter so much....Where do I want to live?

My wife thinks Queen Creek, and I think North of Phoenix maybe....apologize for any sp's...

Thanks

I think the commute from Queen Creek to Sky Harbor Airport would be horrible. I would suggest Chandler, Tempe, or Scottsdale. N. Phoenix might not be bad.

I liked Surprise, AZ. I lived there for three months. Loved it.

Surprise would also be a horrible commute to sky harbor. Im not too keen on traffic here, but it says its 41 miles to the airport and 50 minutes without traffic. Traffic seems particularly bad heading west on the 10 also away from downtown. Surprise, to me, just seems so far out there, even farther from the core of Phoenix than Buckeye or Apache Junction.

if you are commuting to sky harbor during "business hours" i would avoid surpise like the plague - probably also queen creek

don't know much about it, but chandler/gilbert could be a good call

Default Encanterra commute to the airport

The people at Encanterra, Trilogy's new development, say it is only a 20 minute drive to the airport. Is that with or without traffic. What is a realistic estimate with rush hour traffic.

Hi Motley Crew if you are reading this. I like your posts on Encanterra and that says a lot because I know you love Vistancia so much.

I've lived in Tempe pretty much my whole life, and never had any problems. Its centrally located, near the airport, and the scenery is nice. Don't even consider Queen Creek it too far out, and you will spend your time looking at all the vancant houses around you hoping the tweekers dont come and steal your copper. The areas developed in the last 4 years are going to become the new low income ghetto so stay clear of them.

Yes, I agree Nitram. And you would be in the great Kyrene School District also.

Thanks all....We have been looking in the ahwatukee area most off all, as well as Chandler. I was also told that Anthem cold be nice, but then again these new developments will attract less than desirable (the nicer way of putting it) neighbors.

Trust me...Atlanta has it's share of the sec. 8 issue and the issue of a loan being given to the wrong person.

I'm hoping that the Chandler and Ahwatukee areas have good sports programs for the schools as well as the rec. leagues. Football/Sports is big in the south, so we're hoping to get into an area where the kids will have plenty to choose from.

Does anyone know of any really awesome churches in those areas??

Thanks again for everyone's posts...
