I think I got caught by one of those permanent road side speeding traps today. In the state I use to live in there were ways to keep it off of your driving record, ie plead number and pay a little extra, is there any way to prevent if from showing on my record?

If this is your first ticket in AZ, I believe you can go to a driving class and you won't get the points. You still have to pay the ticket, as well as the registration fee for the class, but it's worth it, IMO, to keep the points off your record. The class is no big deal - just a day and can be done on weekends. Read the back of your ticket when you get it in the mail. It should have the info there.

First off, they are not speed traps. If you were speeding, they will document that fact. If so, you will get a ticket

Be prepared to pay a fine and have the points put on your record

You MAY be eligible to go to Defensive Driveing school - you will get that information if you recieve a citation.

Let me be very clear about this.

How are you found guilty in America?

By being found guilty in a court.

How are you summonsed to appear in court?

By being served by an officer of the court...(Thats a cop when he hands you the ticket...you've been served, or by a process server hired by the plaintiff ie..the court)

Being MAILED a traffic ticket IS NOT proper legal service, and as such if you do not respond, you will not be found guilty and you will get no points on your driving record.

Some folks have "heard" that if you ignore the ticket, someone will come to your door. This happens only .00001 % of the time...meaning it does not happen as the relative cost to have a process server make multiple attempts to serve you in person would make the whole photo radar ticker scheme not profitable.

The photo radar scheme prays on the general lack of knowledge in the legal system.

Further defense can be made by your right to face your accuser. The accuser is the photo radar unit...which you can call into court...but it's a machine and cant testify to the validity of its claim you we're speeding...only present evidence.

So if you pay the fine by doing so, you admit your guilt AND that you we're served the ticket. Simple as that.

IGNORE THE TICKET..... You have to be handed the ticket by a person or registered mail.

Yeah sure, ignore it. See you in court and a stiff fine, high insurance rates. It's not worth the hassle to ignore it. Eventually you'll get caught and hello Pink Underwear!

Points are demerits added to your driving record and affects how high your insurance rates will increase, or if you get too many then you lose your license.

Makes perfect sense to me . . . IGNORE THE TICKET!

Then when you get stopped for even the slightest violation in the future . . . SLAMMER and the fines will be HUGE!

Only and IDIOT would ignore a ticket regardless the manner of presentation!

Default Maybe it's different here

I live in Jacksonville, FL and if you received a ticket here, and you have not had one in awhile (about a year or so), the you can go to court, plead guilty, ask for adjudication to be withheld, and just pay the fine and any minimal court fees.

No points will be assessed against your license. I don't know if AZ is different, but it works here in FL just fine. Now if you are someone that has piled up numerous tickets, then you may be out of luck, but if your a relatively responsible driver, then it's no problem.
