I just want to comment on something about APS meters. I am begining to suspect that their "automatic" reading system may be flawed in some situations. I have been monitoring my power use in KW hours, both on and off peak, and found that for the past two months it has been about 20% higher than the previous year. I find this strange because this is the first year that we have not been using the two pool pumps every night (off peak), 1.5 hp or 1.125 kw/ hr. This should be driving my usage down not up. ALSO, I notice that the led screen says 00001, proceeded by the letters ER and does not change they way the old one did showing time and other various readings. I assume this means error. I will be contacting APS tomorrow. All this said, I believe in electronic billing and saving the expense in printing and postage, but I would really like to see the actual meeter readings, both on and off peak as well as demand factor during peak. Has anyone else noticed these symptoms? Why does APS not include the actual readings on the "billing detail"?

just call them, and they'll send a tech out to calibrate the meters.

I know that, and I have done that. The issus to me is how did they produce a billing if theywere not able to get the correct KW hour totals and Demand factors? Why did they not in fact realize that an error was present and repair the meter?

Did you ask them those questions? For what it's worth, I wouldn't expect them to "know" there is an error and that the meter was broken just because your apparent usage is 20 percent higher than last year (lots of peoples' power use changes for any number of reasons). But, I don't know what you mean by APS' "automatic" system ( I have SRP) so I may be missing something!

to my knowledge if there is no readable data they will do an estimate on past billing.

I don't live in AZ but do you guys get charged for something called, "Demand"? It's common for some utility companies to calculate the cost of KWH's you will "need" during a peak and charge you for it regardless of whether you use it or not.

But even if they read the meter wrong for one month... it should wash out the next. (You would think).

I know a little about meters. With all females in the house mine would spin me into the poor house when all those 2000 watt hair dryers would go on.
