Goodyear - What's It Like? (Phoenix, Peoria: living in, commuting to, cities)

What's Goodyear like? I head about Festival Ranch going up - but it's Del Webb who has some history of poor quality. Is the eastern side of Goodyear a tough commute to the outskirts of Phoenix?

Festival Ranch is in Buckeye. The far northern part of Buckeye, near the Surprise border. Living in Festival Ranch and commuting to central Phoenix would be an absolute nightmare, but, north west Phoenix MIGHT be doable. That area's going to be booming eventually - And Festival Ranch is a very nice development - But its located in a place thats very isolated. There are two ways in to the city. Both are the Sun Valley Parkway. Head east and you're on Bell Road in Surprise, Dealing with Bell Road traffic. Head south, and you're absolutely free of traffic. Its 20 miles to I-10, at which point, you're STILL in Buckeye - Then, you have to drive another 30 miles before you hit Phoenix. And THAT 30 miles is filled with traffic.

As for Goodyear- Goodyear is wonderful. Lots of nice developments built - and even more going up. Goodyear is one of the wealthier cities in the west valley.. Along with Peoria and Litchfield Park. Traffic into Phoenix is okay.. Until you hit Litchfield Road in eastern Goodyear. Traffic pretty much slams to a halt as you have 100,000+ commuters trying to squeeze into 2 eastbound lanes on I-10. It kind of lightens up after you get past Dysart Rd, but, its still pretty bad.

There is a widening project though - and its in progress, just don't know when its going to be finished.

In theory, Goodyear would be a very EASY commute, save for distance. Its almost a straight shot to Phoenix. But you have traffic, as usual.
