I have 2 daughters, age 10 & 5 that both love to dance. We are relocating to Arizona, North Phoenix to be exact, and would love any input on dance studios. We have scoped out 2 on the internet, but we really don't know the inside scoop. Dance is very important to them, the oldest has been competing for 5 years now, and the youngest has been dancing since she was 2.

Have you looked into Destiny Dance, the studio run by Sheryl Cooper, wife of Alice Cooper?

I used to train in Simi Valley at the dance studio of Patsy Swayze, mother of Patrick Swayze. But that was many moons ago

what kind of dance are they into? if they want classical ballet technique there are some excellent training schools, but there are also lots of dance schools offereing a varietry of styles and usually have a dance company who preform in competitions if they are interested in that aspect.

If you look on here there is a section with links to all the websites of different dance school in the valley

I teach at a dance studio in Northwest Phoenix. Not sure if you're going to want to drive out to Surprise, but it's called A Time To Dance Performing Arts Studio. We've been open almost a year now (yay!) and things are going well-all of our teachers have been dancing for years and are experienced. The website offers our schedule, class descriptions, teacher bios, etc. The site is www.atimetodance.tv (broken link) if you have any questions let me know!! There are many good studio in Phoenix though, so it won't be too hard to find one you're happy in. Good luck!!!!!!!

I would say that one of the most competitive dance schools in arizona is Royal Dance Works.

My sister actually attends right now. There are 14 different levels, 10 different types (jazz, lyrical, hip hop, ballet, etc etc etc, competitive as well as just for fun. One of the classes she was in actually performed during the phoenix suns half time show last month.

They regularly have shows at places like the orpheum and other concert halls.

She is currently taking 6 classes i believe, dancing around 18 hours a week!!!!

i would definetly check them out as a prospective place.
