I am planning on taking the boat out this weekend and wanted some opinions. I am trying to narrow down which lake to go to. I hear good things about Roosevelt, Pleasant, Canyon, Apache, and Saguaro. I have a 20 ft ski boat and I will be pulling my kids around on tubes and also having my friends wakeboard off it. What would be my best option?
Also, I noticed San Carlos Lake is close by also, is that lake open to anyone?
I will be coming up from Tucson if that helps.

Thanks all and have a great weekend!

Water at Lake Pleasant is 61 degrees. That's too cold for us. It takes to mid-May usually before water is OK for skiing unless you are OK with cold water and feeling cold when wet. San Carlos and Roosevelt will be dirty, Apache is no place to tow a boat when you have other options. Saguaro is small, so is Canyon, but its early so maybe not too busy yet. Pleasant/Roosevelt are the biggest by a long shot. Roosevelt is probably easiest coming from Tucson. You can ski at L. Patagonia down by you as well.

Sort of a hairy drive to Apache, but it's my favorite. Not as crowded and plenty wide. This early, though, you probably won't run into crowds anywhere you go. Might as well go for convenience - I vote Pleasant.

Canyon is my favorite. Magical at sunset. Heading out there next weekend.

I'm sure that theb lakes now are either close to their fullest or getting there. With all of the runoff from the melting snow up north the lakes will be full by June at the latest and be packed too. I like Canyon Lake and Lake Roosevelt.
