this brings up a question I've wanted to ask for a long time....what does everyone here do for photo equipment insurance???
some have homeowners riders, I've heard of others who insure thru a photography equipment company....so how about sharing...I've got so much tied up in 3 camera's, tripods, mono's, lens etc that now I'm freak'n out if something does happen...
so what has everyone out there got to offer for insuring photography equipment???
Wow, at that price you could afford to treat your equipment like a journalist!
Oh, trust me there are times I have spotted a new piece of photography goodness that I have looked and wondered what I could "lose." But, I know that I wouldn't be able to face myself in the mirror if I pulled something like that.
if you DO send it for repair....test it thoroughly when you get it back.....checking for FOCUS SHIFT....
back in the day.......I dropped a Mamiya 645.....sent it to Mamiya for repair.....they did a great job....EXCEPT....they neglected to replace a micromicro thin gasket between the aluminum camera body and the the lens mount....the camera would NEVER reach critical focus....it affected the infinity focus....
The Olympus E-500 and kit lenses, while nice gear tend to have dismal resale values. You may find a replacement lens on the used market for well under $100 if it is one of the two kit lenses that came with the camera. Check out adorama.com, keh.com, B&H Photo Video Digital Cameras, Photography, Camcorders, and lastly ebay.

It was a kit lens, the 14-45mm one to be exact D7. I ordered one from B&H and it's here now. Everything seems to be working fine, and I hope it stays that way. Many thanks for the help ya'll, I appreciate it!
