I have problems with both my SD cards (ScanDisk brand) after taking a bunch of pics last weekend with my old Canon PowerShot and Fuji S4800. The pics on the Canon card are all black...the thumbnails show up fine, but I can't open the pictures, and on the camera it says "Unidentified Image" for each one. The pics on the Fuji card were fine but the card reader kept dropping off my computer and when I got it to load again, all the pictures had disappeared. I put the card back in the camera and it said there were no images.

Tried this on Mac and PC. My card readers are a Targus and an All-in-1 from amazon. Are ScanDisk SD cards bad quality? Before buying new cards or readers I want to know which brands are best.

When I google this issue I get mostly cell phone related answers. I don't want to download recovery software off the internet. I got most of the Fuji pics off the disk before it went bad.

Curious that they both went at the same time.

I've never had issues with ScanDisc, I use their class 10 32gb.

Is the camera functioning properly?

Thank you. Yes, both cameras are working fine. I know I can reformat the cards, I may try that, I guess I will also go to a camera store and try a different brand of card.
