I'm contemplating getting a Canon G9. I'm not a photographer, but my dad is. He is recommending me getting the G9 instead of a Rebel or D40. I've looked at one and messed around with it at home (friend's G9) and liked it a lot. I LOVE the complete lack of shutter delay, and it's also smaller than an SLR. I'd like to get into photography a bit and think this might be a good camera to start with. Any thoughts?
Does anyone have any opinions on this camera (preferrably people who have used one)? Also, I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to RAW images and converting them. Anyone have some advice regarding what program I should get to start working with my photos?
I'm pretty sure you can convert RAW images. I changed programs a few years ago. I used Picasa for so much. Its a great program, just didn't do enough of what I needed to do.
