I put a post in the post in my city to find somewhere to get my camera fixed and no one responded, maybe someone here can help me...
I broke the lens, well not the lens, but there is a crack on the piece surrounding the lens. When I cut the camera on, it makes a weird noise and shuts off. The lens doesn't go back inside the camera unless I push it back in. Should I get the camera fixed or buy a new one. Dodd camera told me there is a $40 flat fee and it is included in what ever cost there is to fix the camera. Is it worth it?
It's hard to answer your question without any information about what type of camera it is, how long you've had it and so forth. I once had an expensive lens fall off my camera and hit the sidewalk. The repair ended up being worth it and was far less than the cost of the lens. But that's not always going to be the case.
My camera isn't that expensive. I have a Kodak Easyshare C653 with 6.1 MP and 3x zoom. I've had it for only a year. I only paid about $120 or so for it while it was on sale.
As one who sells these very models, or rather I did sell that model until they switched models on us, I would say, that you're probably out of warranty for one, and for two, it will probably cost you just as much to get a new one, and a better one, than to get this one fixed.
Question: Was it dropped? If so, then yup, I'd replace it. Not worth the expense to get it fixed. I mean, you'll have $40 bucks in it just to start, so unless its under $100 TOTAL, for the repair (remember you only paid $120 for it to begin with) I'd say NO, and replace it.
I did drop the camera, lol. I guess I will purchase a new one. I think I saw a 7.1MP camera for around the same price. I figured it wouldn't be worth the money to fix it, thanks Azkadellia.
I'm not saying don't look into getting it fixed, I just think you're going to tie up more in fixing it than replacing it! Good luck!! Stop back and let us know now okay?

Yes, these cameras do not fare well when dropped - or in my case - eaten by a Lab puppy
Oh it didn't harm him one whit...he ate anything that was stationary long enough, books, photo albums (empty, thank the photo gods), shoes, etc. He was a massive puppy from birth.
He also passed away New Year's Day this year...before his second birthday. His Momma, my black Lab, was not a good mother (first litter) and nearly killed him, causing damage in the process. He lived far longer than we expected, had a plethora of medical problems, and in the end, his liver and kidneys gave out. I loved the dear...he was such a gentle giant and loved everyone.
