I have a friend who had a ton of images and wants to sell them on the web. I can set her up with a nice website using Wordpress but have no idea how to do a shopping cart or payment system. Do you all have any recommendations for companies out there where I can host my photos and sell them easily by using their templates or code? Thank you.
I use smugmug and they do all that for you…all you do is create a website which is easy using their building blocks and post your pictures .
Then set pricing ..they do everything else
Thanks so much for posting! I've been wondering how to make money from my photos as well. How much do you make in an average month? How many photos do you have on there?
most of what we sell are file rights to the use for commercial purposes . although we sold a poster size photo of a guys truck at a car show we shot for over a hundred bucks ..
we make enough to pay for the site but we dont really promote it .
many times companies see photos i posted here and ask if they can use them .
our photos come packaged in hdr darkroom software as an example . we are on the advertisements for a landmark structure that does weddings as another example.
we get 225-350.00 for a 2x use. anything on going we negotiate .
today we do charity work for the most part . we do events for the nyc parks dept or we are the photographers for the native american thunderbird dancers when they are local . we do charity work for museums and donate our shots .
so we dont really do much for money . photography is just a hobby for us and we rather do what we do for charity and good will of things we support then do commercial work .
but like i say we dont promote it other then just post on facebook and citi data where they get exposure

An easy way would be for her to get an account on Fine Art America, upload her images there and have the website that you are creating link to her images on FAA. Or you could integrate a paypal shopping cart to your website, paypal has a tutorials on how to set up their carts.
I have amateur shots of famous personalities, such as https://en.everybodywiki.com/Twig_the_Fairy , blown up to practically life size. Since it was a public shoot, I am the photographer, and it is in a private, not to be seen collection, there is no problem that there is no release......until I die.
How will my heirs get rid of it if they don't want to keep it?
I was on Fine Art America and Smugmug for a while but sales were slow at best. I then started uploading to stock photo sites. Although I’ve narrowed down the sites I use to Alamy and Adobe, I used to use Shutterstock and iStock too. I have less than 400 photos each on the two sites and earn $1500-$2000 annually. Not a lot but I’m just a hobbyist who decided to make a little money that now keeps me in new gear. Once you edit, keyword and upload there is nothing to do but watch the sales. Very little maintenance and it’s free.
