Not only do I enjoy the pictures in this thread, I also enjoy, probably even more so, the stories that go with the pictures.
If you've ever been to Chicago's Chinatown, this is how parking spots are reserved on the side streets. It used to be even worse, you'd go down the street during the day and it would be totally filled with crates, buckets, whatever. But I think the city started cracking down on this practice.

Used to live up there, Army_Guy -- but in the Northwest suburbs. Sometimes -- especially in the winter in city neighborhoods -- they would use kitchen chairs to reserve their parking spots on the street. Then, if they left them there too long, the snow plows would bury them, and they'd have to shovel themselves back out. I don't miss snow.

I live in El Paso now, been living in the south or southwest for the past few years now and I don't miss snow at all.
